Custom Artwork

Whether you have a rough sketch or no idea where to start, our in-house art staff will work with you to create the design that best suits your needs. If you already have artwork, please follow the guidelines below for the best results.

Guidelines for providing camera-ready art

We will always try to work with your files, but for best results and to avoid additional art charges, please provide your camera-ready art according to these guidelines. Please call with any questions - we’re happy to help make it right from the beginning.

Spot Color
(most common)

  • Artwork (except for 4-color process) should be in vector format (Adobe Illustrator .ai or .eps is preferred).

  • If order is to be printed in spot colors, art should be created in spot colors (not CYMK or RGB).

  • Convert all text to outlines.

  • Do not include linked files. All art elements should be embedded.

  • All embedded elements should be at least 300 dpi at printed size.

  • If white ink is to be used, please fill white artwork areas with a spot color.

  • Make sure that no colors are set to overprint.

  • Unusable file formats include Microsoft Powerpoint (.ppt), Microsoft Word (.doc), or Corel Wordperfect (.wpd), JPEG (.jpg), TIFF (.tif), GIF (.gif), BMP (.bmp). Occasionally we are able to use these file types, but most likely they will require a digital redraw to be converted to vector format, and an art fee will be charged.

Hand-drawn Art

  • Hand-drawn art should be done in black permanent marker (regardless of the color it will print) on clean, white, unlined paper. It should be outlines only, with no color fills, and all pencil marks erased. Keep in mind that every mark on the page will print. Add color fills or indicate colors on a separate accompanying copy of the art.

4-Color Process

  • Please convert all RGB colors and files to CMYK. For best results, art should be 300 dpi, and at (or near) actual size.

Providing Art for Embroidery

  • Digitized files should be at actual size, in .dst or .pxf format. Please also provide a viewable file (.pdf, .jpg, .ai, .tif, etc.) for color verification.

  • Undigitized art can be in .ai, .eps, .pdf, .psd, .jpeg, .gif, .tiff, .bmp. Resolution is not an issue, as long as it can be viewed clearly.

  • Keep in mind that it may not be possible to sew very small lettering and/or minute details.
